Hi all, I was a participant in the first Mapnik code sprint, had a lot of fun in it, and even managed to get some work done!
The idea was to hold a second code sprint somewhere in early 2011. The issue hasn't moved forward, so I'd like to propose something. I've been talking with the chaps at Medialab Prado[1], a medialab/hackspace in Madrid. And they'd be happy to let us use their purpose-built hackspace[2], and with a bit of luck, let us display a map in their 8-meter-tall screen[3]. So, my proposal is to hold a code sprint on a Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday in the upcoming months. I know it's sub-optimal to not hold the code sprint in a weekend, so *please* do propose other venues.
