I filed MAPREDUCE-3312 for the follow on work. I just don't think I can get it
done before Monday. I did not make it synchronized because even though they
are related the order in which they are used makes it unnecessary. But if
someone else makes changes to it that ordering might not stay consistent so I
will synchronize it.
