Had looked at this patch when it was part of another jira (related to cleanup
after the unregister call). This does make writing AMs a little easier. AMs
gets= a chance to exit gracefully, instead of a race between the AM exit and a
SIGKILL from the NM. IIRC, we've already had to fix two issues in the MR AM
where the unregister was being called before all cleanup.
