Marjorie:

I might be able to modify it to include the data before the week end.

The harder part might be to make it flexible enough to select the fields you want to pass.

Just in case, send me the list of field names and the name of the source and target layer.  Hardcoding those parameters should require less coding time than keeping them as variables.

Cheers,

Armando

Thanks to Armando! (whose email to me I'm forwarding separately, minus the
attached file.)

There is no way in the universe I could've figured this out on my own. One
catch, though: Armondo's utility doesn't transfer data. To reduce the
burden on the one who kindly offerred this solution: is there anyone else
on this list with sufficient expertise to modify this so that I get to
keep street names, classes and block numbers in my new bike route layer?

(Goodness, this challenge has taken me by suprise. It's a matter of copy
and paste in MapInfo.)

Once we have this resolved, we'll upload the CopyLines add-in, and its
code to directionsmag.com.

(And hey, what if you want to transfer selected POINTS or POLYGONS to a
target layer?)

<soap opera voice on> Will Margie have bike routes for her Wednesday
presentation to the legislators at the bicycle symposium? Shouldn't she
just be riding her bike instead of doing all this work? <soap opera voice
off>

As the world turns,

Margie
