Hi Group

For 4.7 users check out:

The Marketing-Analysis-Assign Customers command that makes it very easy to assign customers to districts, and more generally to tag any point layer with a value from a field in an area layer. This command creates a new field with a name that is a combination of the area layer name and the field that is used for tagging.

You can use the command repeatedly to create fields with additional values from the area layer. You can also use selection sets to fill just some of the point records.

David,
Go to the dataview for your point layer and 'Modify Table' then 'Add Field' and choose the type (Probably integer for your purposes). This field would be for your district number. Then right-click on the new field and select 'Fill' then 'Tag' and choose your district layer and the district number field. Maptitude will fill each point record with the district number in which it is located. Hope this helps.

I have a point layer of sites generated through "locate by address"
and an area layer (political districts). I want to assign each site
to a political district (i.e., add a field to the site dataview with
the district number).

Is there a way to do this?
