Make a point map tools>locate>Zip Code select the option to randomly distribute. Do this when you have your Zip Code map open or ZCTA (specity the Zip Code as the field for the ZCTA if you do not have a Zip Code layer). Put this on top of your Zip Code map and then you can select the points with the Info tool and see each individual record.
The reason you are getting multiple points for the same customer using the street map is that in a Zip Code there many many line segments (Parts of streets) and so you are doing a many to one join. Seems that you would link every customer to every street segment that had that Zip Code as a location. You will have a whole lot of points n of them for each customer where n is the number of street segments in the Zip Code.
If you link the Zip Code map to the customers with the Zip Code file then you are doing a 1 to many joint where Maptitude will produce a dataview with a column with the number of customers in each Zip Code which might be useful to map. The rest of the fields will be the first/last record to participate in the join.

Using Maptitude 4.7 I need to be able to take a .dbf of customers with
columns for their name, phone and zip code and join it to a maps
dataview.
I want to be able to use the info icon to display a distinct listing
of customers based on their zipcode.
I stored my customer data in to a .dbf file
I tried this using the NYCITY.MAP from the tutorial folder as a test
so I mocked up my data to match the zipcodes of Manhattan.
I tried selecting the 5-digit zip code dataview and joined it to
my .dbf file - I get multiple occurances of each customer displaying
many times.
I tried selecting the street dataview and joined it to my .dbf file -
I also get multiple occurances of each customer displaying many times.
What is the correct method of just displaying distinct rows of my
customer data in a info dataview window based on the customers zipcode
for the NYCITY.MAP?
