The Caliper census data dataview shows the labels for the columns, such as "population"  but the underlying variable is v01 which is the original census variable. How can I save the dataview as a .dbf with the underlying census variavle names rather than the column variable name.
 
Also if I have a dbf with long/lat  with variables x1, x2, ... xn  and for which I have labels "infant death rate" "maternal age". ... etc how do I make those lables as column heading in a .dbd/cdf  type layer with the underlying variables as  x1, x2, ... xn

See the "Push Buttons" topic in the on-line Help for GISDK. Just click on
the Index tab, type "buttons", and choose "Push Buttons." The icons: option
lets you choose the bitmap(s) to use.
