I see, I can put any toolbox item in the toolbar, if I omit the hpos and vpos options

See the "Push Buttons" topic in the on-line Help for GISDK. Just click on
the Index tab, type "buttons", and choose "Push Buttons." The icons: option
lets you choose the bitmap(s) to use.
