Be VERY careful on how you re-install XP.
I heard you can loose all your files, like you installed on a formatted disk,
if you don't re-install the right way.

Hi guys,

I have a similar problem. From some time on while using Windows XP, I
noticed
that some odd things occurs:

It is not possible to copy and paste among Adobe and Internet Explorer,
so I
have to type in bar code numbers by hand.

Maptitude icons disappeared from registered file types (i.e. map, dvw,
dbd,  etc.)

Now, when I try to open a map, Maptitude crash with the annoying
"Referenced memory illegally" message. If I open the layers one by
one and save in a new map, there is no complains. Any spatial operation
no
matter how complex works nicely. The problem is to lose all the maps
previously
saved. After Saymour message, I am afraid to re-install Windows XP.
Re-installation
of Maptitude did not solve the problem, just the registered file types
came back.

Thanks in advance.

Reinaldo

        Upgrading
to Maptitude 5.0 will not solve the problem.

I tried to open a map I made last month and got the same message - so
Maptitude doesn't do what it did last month.  Maptitude didn't "break".

I had to re-install Windows because of another issue.  Seems after that
re-install, I've been having minor memory management problems with
other applications also.

That leads me to believe the problem is with Windows memory management,
not Maptitude.

If Maptitude worked last month, it should work now (all other things
being equal).

          John, for starters,
upgrade to Maptitude 5.0.

                I get "Sorry, the program
referenced memory illegally" when I try to Locate by address.

                Maptitude 4.5, Windows 2000 SP4, 785k RAM.

The .dvw and .dbf files are attached.
