I am working with Maptitude 6.0 and was importing another product's
statewide coverage (Shp file) that included PL94-171 population counts, etc.
I was having issues running into memory problems, and was specifying NAD83
settings for the import. However, Maptitude was prompting me to be more
specific for the state projection used. I noticed several NAD83 state
implementations that included North, South, East or West varieties - and
wasn't sure what difference that would have on the results. Well, while it
turns out that I was able to open the .shp file every time, whenever I tried
to import and create my own geography, the program would blow up. It would
also blow up when I tried to import using Maptitude default settings.

I am familiar with several of the projection models, but by no means an
expert. I was wondering if there was any resource with more specific
treatment of how Maptitude handles this or troubleshooting projection
problems with different shape files - of course, I am assuming this problem
is user error and not a glitch in the software.
