--------------------------------------------------------------------- The Evening Bridge - April 29, 2005 --------------------------------------------------------------------- TOP STORY - At its meeting today, the Federal Communications Commission initiated an inquiry into new satellite TV carriage requirements for delivery of local TV channels in Alaska and Hawaii. A statement released by the FCC about the work also mentioned there will be a look into obligations concerning satellite TV carriage of local TV station signals in the two states and whether those obligations extend to an entire broadcast signal, including multicast and high-def. An FCC spokesperson emphasized that the proceeding involves only a look at multicast and other related issues in terms of satellite TV service to Alaska and Hawaii.
