TOP STORY - DirecTV reported that it added 505,000 net subscribers 
during the first quarter, taking its customer total to 14.445 million. The 
satellite TV company also narrowed its operating loss to $54 million for 
the three-month period.

Earlier today, MCI accepted a revised acquisition offer from Verizon, 
leaving Qwest, which also has been pursuing the company, out in the 
cold. In a statement, Qwest said, "We believe that the decision of the 
MCI board to once again favor Verizon is another example of that 
board's failure to accept the offer that maximizes shareowner value" --- 
Local United Way agencies in 27 states received more than $2.3 million 
in Comcast employee contributions and grants funded through The 
Comcast Foundation for 2004, the cable operator said --- Cablevision 
said it's offering Sprint PCS service through its Optimum Store Online.
