TOP STORY - Cablevision CEO James Dolan spoke about the company's
failed bid for Adelphia's assets during a conference call discussing first
quarter results. He said Cablevision's offer for the troubled
MSO "represented an opportunity to create significant shareholder
value." During the quarter, Cablevision added 21,800 basic customers,
for a total of 2.984 million, and 139,928 digital cable subs, taking that
customer base to 1.622 million.

>From this week's issue: "These days everyone's in the VOD game and
the key question is: Who gets the home run? Actually ... No one. At
least not in the sense that many are hoping for. Says Leichtman
Research Group's Bruce Leichtman, a well-regarded media researcher
who has been probing the VOD market for the past three
years, "Everyone wants grand-slam home runs but I don't see that
