Time Warner said first quarter revenues were $10.5 billion, an increase
of 3 percent when compared to revenue for the same period in 2004.
The revenue jump was attributed to growth within the company's cable,
publishing and networks segments --- Verizon reached a programming
distribution agreement with NFL Network for its developing FiOS fiber-
based service --- Cablevision said its Optimum Voice unlimited calling
area was expanded to include Puerto Rico. The cable operator also said
the phone offering is attracting more than 1,000 new customers per day
on average --- Mediacom announced an agreement with In Demand
Networks in which the cable company will distribute INHD and INHD2
and continue offering pay-per-view movies and events from the cable-
centric programmer.

Analyze This
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Jeff Halpern of Bernstein Research on first quarter DSL numbers: "DSL
subscriber growth significantly beat most analyst expectations in the
quarter, including our own. BellSouth, Qwest, SBC and Verizon,
combined, reported a 10.4 percent sequential rise in DSL subscribers
and a 45 percent year-over-year increase. Combined, the Bells
reported 1.23 million net broadband additions, growing the base to 13
million or nearly 20 percent penetration of addressable households. We
believe a conscious focus on tiered service offers - allowing the Bells to
attract more price sensitive consumers - was the leading driver of the
rapid subscriber growth."
