TOP STORY - Verizon said it's expanding its fiber optic network to 21
additional New Jersey communities. The technology will deliver data and
voice services and also has the capability to offer video in the future.
The company said it will seek a franchise agreement from local
authorities before offering video service in a selected community.
Verizon is building its fiber network in 123 New Jersey communities in
10 counties.

Rogers Communications said that next year Alan Horn will become a
vice chairman of the board and William Linton will become vice
president finance and chief financial officer --- CBS said it will re-brand
its Infinity radio division CBS Radio after the split of Viacom.

Craig Moffett of Bernstein Research on a la carte: "FCC Chairman Kevin
Martin's recent backing of a la carte is bad political theater, and bad
economics. His motivation appears to have nothing to do with
restraining rising consumer cable bills, and everything to do with
securing 'decency' obligations for basic cable channels. It appears that
the FCC is using its bully pulpit in its Adelphia acquisition review for
exactly the same purpose."
