Tom Eagan of Oppenheimer and Co. on future strategies for Comcast
and Time Warner Cable: "It seems to us that both companies are
looking to replicate Cablevision's experience of re-accelerating growth
in basic and high-speed-data subs by rolling-out VoIP. Time Warner
Cable's early results of upselling the $99 package subs to an ARPU
(average revenue per unit or subscriber) of $115 is similar to
Cablevsion's. Comcast and Time Warner Cable are also closely
monitoring Cablevision's network DVR strategy and plan to incorporate
network DVR technology should Cablevision succeed in gaining legal
approval from content providers."
