Hi Giles: Keep in mind the project's trademark guidelines are additive to the foundations guidelines. They have a specific answer to this question:
http://www.apache.org/foundation/marks/faq/#integrateswith In short, I don't see a problem with your logo usage. A couple of other comments/nits. You have the TM symbol after CloudStack - this should be the registered TM symbol as CloudStack is a registered TM. You may want to get a second opinion on this; I am sleep deprived at the moment but this seems at odds with the ASF's trademark guidelines. You have this sentence in your copy: "ShapeBlue are active members of the Apache CloudStack project" Shapeblue itself has no relationship with the project even though several employees are committers. The trademark guidelines section I linked to above have the following: Ensure that your website and marketing materials do not imply ASF endorsement or the affiliation of your products, services, or organization with ASF. --David On Tue, Apr 1, 2014 at 12:48 PM, Giles Sirett <[email protected]> wrote: > All > > > > We're putting together some flyers to use at CCCNA14. > > > > We would *like* to use the monkey logo on the bottom of the flyer > > > > Proof is here: > > http://shapeblue.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/cccna14_proof.pdf > > > > (please excuse the orange blocks, they are covering details of something > that we're going to be announcing at CCCNA14 - so its not for public list at > this time) > > > > The closest fit to this I could find in the trademarks guidelines was > "non-software goods" - although I don't think flyers fit into that category. > So, I'm not 100% sure of which part of the guidelines to follow. > > > > Thoughts/comments/objections ? > > > > This particular request aside, it may be sensible going forwards to add a > section in the guidelines on use of marks on printed collateral (such as > this) > > > > > > Kind Regards > > Giles > > > > Giles Sirett > > CEO > > > > > > D: +44 20 3603 0541 | S: +44 20 3603 0540 | M: +44 796 111 2055 > > > > [email protected] | www.shapeblue.com | Twitter:@shapeBlue > > > > > > Need Enterprise Grade Support for Apache CloudStack? > Our CloudStack Infrastructure Support offers the best 24/7 SLA for > CloudStack Environments. > > Apache CloudStack Bootcamp training courses > > **NEW!** CloudStack 4.2.1 training > 18th-19th February 2014, Brazil.
