So does anyone know a way to get the White House, or the proper
people in the US government, to look at LibreOffice's efforts in the
open source community and to review the software package? The
article seems to be a possible boost to the several packages it named
that the White House and other agencies use. What would such an
article do for LibreOffice if the White House started to use
LibreOffice?
I don't have any quick answers for you other than there is a lot of
work going on in this space:

Well, it is a thought though.
I have hear of the Opensourceforamerica.org before, but do not know what
they are all about.
But, the idea of an endorsement from a government agency may be a big
help when people start talking about the reasons "they" should use open
source software, and LibreOffice specifically. The more
governments/agencies, big businesses, publications, etc., etc., that
endorse LibreOffice, the better it looks for the smaller businesses,
organizations, etc., etc., would feel about trying LibreOffice for their
office suite needs.
I am not a marketing person, but I know when I was "talking up"
OpenOffice.org over the past few years, I found that if I could state
that "this publication" or "that government agency" is now using OOo for
its needs, the more the person [or organization reps] listened to me. I
have a few people and groups that basically say that if I use the
software, they will give it a try. It is harder for the others though.
So, if there is a list being developed somewhere that states that this
publication, organization, business, government, endorses the use of
LibreOffice as a good alternative to Microsoft Office Suite, it would be
a help. I know there is a list online of the articles that mention
LibreOffice, but adding businesses and such to the list would be helpful
to people like me who wants to convince people that LibreOffice is the
solution to there office needs.
