Well, I can't disagree with that per se, but I would like to change the
focus.
What is needed in my opinion is to get more folks in North America
active not in marketing, but in development. That can be core
development, it could be development of documentation or extensions.
In other words we need to market more then just use of the application,
we need to market the community and help being people in that will help
across the board with what needs doing.
Just my thought on that.

Sounds OK by me. Although, I think that, seeing that we are pretty
well starting with very few NA contributors, the easiest point of
access is to gather more people around marketing first to establish
the LibreOffice brand in US/Can and then push for dev contributors. We
need to establish a more robust acceptance of LibreOffice. Even more
so than overseas, I think that MSO will try to mount a greater defence
of its brand if it sees that there is an organised and methodical
LibreOffice marketing push in its own backyard. Devs would be invited
as a normal course of our organizing method.

We could have more people helping to make our NA DVD better and better.
There was the "concept" of this being our "first" release of the DVD.
That implied that we will have another release later. I know we could
just release the DVD every time LibreOffice changes versions, but we
could work on making each release a little better. To be honest, I
think we could add more items to the "Extras" page. There are a number
of categories we could add, like security software, or CD/DVD burning
software. DeVeDe is the best DVD movie authoring package I have found so
far. Easy to use and easy to create your first DVD without needing to
read any documentation. There are movie DVD authoring free software that
is state to be better, but I have never been able to get them working
properly, on Linux or Windows.
There are so many things we could add to our DVD Extra page, but we need
to finish the first one, then work on the next one. We have almost 1 GB
of space left in the Windows/MacOSX/Linux version and several gigs left
in the Windows-only version. Of course we could look into OOo's idea of
an Extra CD/DVD. We could have the LibreOffice install DVD that
includes some Extras, then we could make a second DVD that includes all
the Extras that we like to use. This DVD could include all the items
you would need for a new computer. Office suite from the LibreOffice
install disc, plus the browser and email clients. Then we can have the
Extra DVD include all the rest; Graphics programs, CD/DVD programs,
Video editing and movie making programs, Security programs [Windows
needing it much more than Linux/MacOSX users]. Anything we can think of
that a new computer could use, we could include on the second DVD. I
personally have created such a DVD [or CDs] for people I know who will
be buying a new computer. Most of these people loved the idea of having
one DVD to provide all the things they would need, so they would not
have to spend a lot of time search the net and downloading those types
of software themselves.
Well that is an idea, anyways. I may work on it later. I do have to
work on making a new one for myself, soon. Last week I had to rebuild a
laptop. I had to wipe the drive and make it a NTFS drive, then install
XP on it again, instead of Linux. After that I had to add everything
that the person would need to use on it. My friend needed to borrow the
laptop from me for a few months till his taxes come back so he can
replace his dead laptop. He uses dial-up and the service does not have
Linux software.
I had a list of software on networked computers stored there as a list
of software that would be needed as the software someone could/should
use on their Windows computer. Since the laptop on attached to my
network, I did not need to make a DVD of these software folder[s]. But
it would be a good idea, still.
