IRC is one of the original parts of the Internet. It has been around forever. There is a lot of information on the Web about IRC. In addition, IRC clients often have documentation. Here are a few links http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/IRC/Instructions http://freenode.net/faq.shtml#contents (I presume we'll be on freenode.) http://freenode.net/using_the_network.shtml I use Kubuntu and Quassel. I don't know what the default Ubuntu client is. Some searching on the forums should turn up this information. Otherwise, post the question to a Ubuntu forum. Might also look there for IRC help. Just set up a chat account in Opera 11.10. Hard to imagine anything would be much easier. Step-by-step account setup. The only thing that might be an obstacle is that Opera insists on downloading all 29000+ rooms, which takes a while. There's a button to join a conversation (once it's published here). Searching for "tdf" located that channel.
