Brian Miller wrote to James Younce:

BM) Sadly, James, Mr. Holtz is engaging in the sort of "you gays" rhetoric
with you that characterizes so much of some LPers' attitudes towards gay
folks. (BM

Absolutely false. I have always made a clear distinction between your
behavior and that of gay libertarians and Outright members generally. For
example, I wrote on LPplatform-discuss on Nov 2:

The Outrights is one of the best LP organizations, and the ranks of the best
LPCA activists are overflowing with Outright members. Brian Miller's serial
mendacity is only a tiny smudge on the reputation of this shining
organization.

And I wrote on the Outright Y group in an unrebutted Oct 3
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OutrightLibertarians/message/3120> message:

My commitment to gay rights isn't measured by whether I give one or two
Outright leaders a free pass to broadcast disinformation about me and the
LRC. [...] If I thought group quotas were how the Outrights measure the
commitment of fellow Libertarians to individual liberty, then I'd simply be
embarrassed for the Outrights, and hope they grow to find a deeper
understanding of libertarianism. However, my extensive interactions with
gay Libertarians in California in the years before you showed up here a few
months ago leaves me convinced that you are an outlier. [...] My vast
respect for the Outrights comes from my years of association with California
Outrights like Rich Newell and Beau Cain and Mark Johnson and Starchild.
Each of them over the years has set a standard for integrity and dedication
and intelligence and fairness that your first few rabid months on the LPCA
scene don't even begin to put a dent in. You can pretend all you want that
you personify the Outrights, but I've worked for years with Outrights in
California, Outrights are friends of mine, and from what I can tell, you're
no Outright.

You continue to James:

BM) Your opinions and my opinions are our own, individually. (BM

But mine can be shouted down as merely those of a "straight white guy in
suburbia"? If you must know, I've crashed overnight in a bed with a gay
friend, and have had gay housemates and gay officemates and gay dorm
roommates. Does that qualify me yet to have an individual opinion? (To the
moderator: does it qualify me not to have my protests against personal
attacks be censored? Anyone wondering what happened to the 2nd sentence of
my first posting this morning can read the original here
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/marketliberal/message/2456> .)

P.S. Thank you, James, for publicly stating that my sexual orientation does
not affect the validity (or lack thereof) of my statements about public
policy.
