University of Florida Distance Learning Announces

**NEW Online Courses in Aquatic Animal Health**


The Aquatic Animal Health program at the University of Florida College of 
Veterinary Medicine is now offering two new courses to non-UF students via 
Distance Learning:

 *   Introduction to Marine Wildlife  (summer semester)
 *   Aquatic Animal Conservation Issues  (fall semester)
 *   Wildlife Diseases (fall semester)

Our Distance Education Program in Aquatic Animal Health is relatively new and 
new courses will continue to be added over the next several years. New courses 
that should be offered soon include Water Biology, Introduction to Fish and 
Aquatic Invertebrate Histological Interpretation, Introduction to Aquaculture, 
Introduction to Fish Health Management, Aquatic Animal Rehabilitation, and 
Manatee Biology and Health.

Wildlife Diseases - This online course will emphasize important diseases of 
terrestrial and aquatic wildlife in North America, emerging infectious 
diseases, as well as diseases that pose threats to human and domestic animal 
health. Lectures will cover fundamentals of the disease process, field 
investigations, conservation medicine, and discussions of selected diseases of 
significance to mammalian, avian, reptilian, and amphibian wildlife 
populations. Key diseases not found in the U.S. but important in other parts of 
the world will also be discussed. The ecological aspects of diseases will be 
stressed.

This course is introductory in nature and is recommended for upper level 
undergraduate and graduate students in ecology, wildlife, zoology, biology, or 
other related programs, as well as professionals working in the wildlife or 
environmental fields.
