Dear all,

We are happy to share the first release of AISanalyze on CRAN
(https://CRAN.R-project.org/package=AISanalyze), with major improvements to its
documentation and R functions.

AIS data are now essential for assessing maritime traffic risks to marine
species, yet their use in research remains constrained by high computational
demands and GPS errors; AISanalyze addresses these by providing a fast, simple
and reproducible workflow to prepare AIS data for ecological analyses. Through
user-friendly functions, it

  *   estimates vessel speeds,
  *   corrects GPS errors,
  *   interpolates vessel trajectories,
  * extracts vessel positions around target locations and times,
  * retrieves vessel information (type, length, etc.),
  * identifies base stations and aircraft,
with outputs readily usable for further analyses.

Install the package in R: install.packages("AISanalyze")

If you use the package, we would love to hear your feedback and ideas to
improve and accelerate the use of AIS data by the community! Automated tools
are essential for processing the millions of AIS data points, facilitating
their use, and better understanding maritime traffic risks to marine ecosystems.
