PR Stats is pleased to announce an upcoming live online course in Network
Analysis for Ecological Data (NWAE02), delivered by Dr Miguel Lurgi on 5–6
November 2026.

Network Analysis for Ecological Data (NWAE02)
https://prstats.org/course/network-analysis-for-ecological-data-nwae02/

Dates: 5–6 November 2026
Instructor: Dr Miguel Lurgi
Format: Live, online and interactive
Course fee: £250

Course Overview

Marine mammals occupy important positions within marine food webs, interacting
with prey species, competitors and other components of marine ecosystems.
Understanding these relationships is essential for investigating trophic
dynamics, ecosystem functioning and the consequences of environmental change.

Network analysis provides powerful tools for exploring these complex ecological
relationships, identifying important species and interactions, and examining
the structure and dynamics of marine ecological communities.

This practical course introduces ecological network analysis using R, with
methods applicable to marine food webs, predator–prey interactions, trophic
relationships and broader marine ecosystem research.

Topics include:

  * Constructing and visualising ecological networks using R and igraph.

  * Analysing network structure, including centrality, modularity and
nestedness.

  * Investigating predator–prey relationships, trophic interactions and
marine food webs.

  * Exploring network dynamics and ecological simulations.

  * Assessing how changes in species interactions and network structure may
influence marine ecosystem functioning and stability.

Who Should Attend?

This course is suitable for marine mammal researchers, marine ecologists,
fisheries scientists, conservation biologists, postgraduate students and
researchers interested in trophic ecology, predator–prey relationships, marine
food webs and ecosystem dynamics.

The course combines theoretical explanations with practical exercises in R,
allowing participants to apply network analysis methods to ecological datasets.

Registration and Further Information

Full course details, programme and registration are available here:

Participants will also receive access to course recordings, allowing them to
revisit the material after the live sessions.

Please feel free to share this announcement with friends, colleagues, research
groups, laboratories, institutes, organisations or anyone in your wider network
who may benefit from this training.

Kind regards,
