Looking at it, I noticed there seems to be no test suite. Test suites
are worth the trouble.
Perhaps related, a "target app" might help. Except that it should be
something you care about, don't be fussy about this -- all that is
necessary is that it exercise what you're developing in some way. Linux
was originally a terminal emulator, for example. Unix development
originally focused on some long-forgotten game. Perl started as (IIRC)
a bug-tracking system.
