Hi Arek,

In MView:
choose dataset A (your own data)
in order for this dataset to have a drop down of some other external linked datasets (eg B, C)

external dataset B, C need to have some exportables (you need to check what they have to offer)
and the dataset A needs an importable (you need to create it)

Aha, so I can create a drop down in my MView that links to another
dataset, without the user needing to explicitly choose the other
dataset, is that right? It would be rather cool if I could do this.

Now, I am a bit lost :)

let's use an example:

if you go to www.biomart.org MView and let's say choose

Ensembl homo sapiens dataset and if you click on 'bottom dataset'
you will see a dropdown of linked datasets which includes among others MSD dataset.

In this particular configuration, Ensembl homo sapiens has an importable
matching an exportable from MSD datataset

a.

typically you are mostly concerned with importables on your own dataset as these bring other data in (ei create a MView dropdown of linked external datasets to your own dataset) so you tend to scan external datasets for exportable(s) and create matching
importables(s) on your own dataset

not sure if this helps :)

It does!

Thanks,

David.
