Hang on .... let's not paint such a negative picture ;-)
we DO support them. If you want an example look at dictybase Gene filters, You need to specify 'like' as a qualifier and a legal qualifier and use '%" for a wildcard when searching. (They do work, I just checked - or at least they work in 0.4 unless something happened to them in 0.5 - I hope not)

Jennifer, could you try again according to the above and see if this helps?
