Hi Dan, before i make any assumptions, have you tried looking at the schema of ensembl_50 marts. It does a lot similar to what you are after. The SQL hacking is certainly an option, however, its better to use MartBuilder if it does what you are after. Any requirements which cover general use cases and not a part of MBuilder can become a part of MBuilder instead.
