Rothstein needs to learn history too (not only Gingrich). NY Times: "all the news that fits the rich." Disclosure in the 1980's of a Justice Dept cover-up of Dept. of Navy and J.Edgar Hoover memos that showed no espionage by Japanese in the US after extensive investigation was the basis 40 years later for dismissing convictions against 3 Japanese Americans who violated and challenged the curfew and evacuation order authorized by FDR (Executive Order 9066, February 19, 1942). Hoover opposed the evacuation and incarceration while California Attorney General and future Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren ran his campaign for California governorship on the removal of the "Japs" and won the backing of Anglo farmers. I touch on these issues in an article that discusses some of the history of the National Lawyers Guild and its support of the camps. See http://www.nlg.org/wp-content/files_flutter/131370097068-1finaldigital.pdf Other supporters of the camps: CP-USA & many Japanese American CP members (even though they were all expelled from the CP-USA purely because of their race) & many leaders of the Japanese American Citizens League (you can imagine the hostilities among the prisoners in the camps).
