I am glad that Fred remembered what is going on with golf courses in Venezuela. What a dramatic example of two different political approaches. Indeed, the NEP reflected attempts to deal with the realities of socialist development in a capitalist world, but at least the Soviet leadership was very clear about what it was up to. Furthermore, it maintained a revolutionary foreign policy throughout. The Vietnamese leadership, on the other hand, is not exactly on the forefront of anti-imperialist struggle today. Despite my aversions to Iran's domestic policies, I have to give credit to Ahmadinejad's foreign policy initiatives.
