David S and Juan are both correct, unfortunately. For *any* of these novellas to work, one has to get into the very surface fake emotional relationships (my dad was a stage manager for "Search for Tomorrow" on CBS and I was an extra on it a few times), everything in it two-dementionally and melodramatic. You could have it about Che and his dating his first wife in Guatemala for all the politics would be irrelevant to the audience. When the political theme overtakes it, the novella dies.
