Well, this may cause you to rethink your position, Shane, but I agree with 
you [and Bina] on the obsolescence of the notion of imperialism as developed 
by Lenin [and I think Lenin's analysis is more than obsolete-- it was 
inadequate from the getgo].

And I agree on the nature of the Iranian Islamic regime.

To Shawn-- I have no doubt that the US is hard at work trying to take 
advantage, precipitate, turn, whatever the protests in a direction of its 
liking and all I can say to that is...so what?

The US was hard at work in Poland, inside and outside Solidarnosc-- but the 
"work" could only gain traction, could find room to maneuver, because there 
were material, economic, class bases for the struggle of the Polish workers. 
And for just that reason we don't support Jaruzelski's pre-emptive coup.

The fundamental issue is: are there material, economic reasons-- that old 
conflict between means and relations of production-- driving the actions of 
both the regime and the protests?

Bina sure could use an editor, though.
