It's way more than part crap. Overpopulation is NO cause of poverty. It is not a "lesser one among many," because it simply doesn't exists separate and apart from the development of the social productivity of labor, and the class relations that encapsulate that productivity. When the ZPG groups argue for ZPG, all they are stating is that capital as capital, as expanded profit, can no longer sustain an advancement in productivity capable of supporting the CURRENT population, much less an increasing one. "Even if we build a socialist economy.....?" We will never build a socialist economy by proclaiming overpopulation as a cause of capitalist induced poverty and scarcity. If there ever was an argument that reeked of imperialist privilege, this argument about overpopulation as a cause of poverty is it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barry Brooks" <dura...@earthlink.net> <sartes...@earthlink.net> Sent: Friday, January 29, 2010 4:55 PM Subject: Re: [Marxism] The limits to growth lurk behind these issues. > ====================================================================== >> I knew it was part crap, but I had hoped that something worthwhile was > included. > > Since more than one factor is involved I was wrong to say that > overpopulation causes poverty, because it has been only a lesser one of > many causes.
