His one fatal flaw was and is his belief that you can actually achieve some sort of progressive change through the Labour Party. As for Glenda Jackson's constituency: Those who know anything about geography of North London will know that the constituency of Hampstead and Kilburn not only includes the relatively small bourgeois enclave of Hampstead Village but also large swathes of rundown working class housing estates - which are the traditional base of the Labour Party in that constituency - and Kilburn is one of the archetypical working class immigrant areas (mainly Irish). So knee-jerk reactions to the name Hampstead are not called for.
