BOTTOM LINE: Obama's victory was due to a big increase in Black and Latino turnout and a disproportionately greater swing to the Democrats among Latinos and Asians, young people, and the very rich. The idea that white, working class voters carried out a "MASSIVE break away" from the Republicans is contradicted by the evidence. Joaquín Reply I yield to the evidence. Obama’s victory did not entail a massive shift in working class white voters, from Republican to Democrats according to the evidence presented. Rather, his vote lead - 8.5 million, express 7.3 million new black and Latino voters and shift in Latino and Asian voters. The evidence presented is enough to halt me from describing what my lying eyes witnessed. Fair enough. My impression was created during the election and a couple days afterwards when vote trends were presented on television. In light of the evidence presented that was no shift at all amongst working class white voters - of any note, but rather amongst the wealthiest white voters.
