In general throughout history the young intellectuals have been ahead of the older generations: when my mother was starting her senior year at the University of Oklahoma, the university was ordered by the Supreme Court to admit a Black law student since Oklahoma did not provide a "separate but equal" law school for African-Americans. The student was admitted, but he was required to sit in the back of the classroom behind a partition! That's the part we were told about.
