And as usual, the poor, the working class, and the small businesses will suffer the negative consequences disproportionately. I ran into a redneck just the other day at a BP station. I was curious why people were still buying gas there so I stopped in and got $5 worth. I made some negative comment about BP, and the guy said he thought the CEO was doing a fine job. Plus, one of his relatives ran the local station. That gave me an intro to use my favorite line from "Matewan", you know, the one about fire and pissing. So the upshot is most people will continue to go about their business and shop at their local BP station/convenience store because their cousin down the road owns the place. The only people directly affected will be those living on the coast, and most of the folks living in the deep southern interior don't give a rat's ass about them anyway, unless they have a relative down there.
