Do you know what I find baffling? Even when you win ("you" meaning the ones who
cancelled this event and their defenders), you can't take a victory lap.
Image that none of the events leading up to Reed's cancelled talk occurred —
the DSA person didn't take down the Facebook and Twitter notifications, AFROSOC
didn't cobble together a statement demanding the talk not occur, none of it —
and the afternoon of the talk, Reed announced that he wasn't going to give the
talk because he was afraid some people would try to disrupt it. Qualitatively,
that's what you're saying happened.
