This is utter bullshit. Segregation means forcing Blacks to drink from
"colored only" fountains. When NYU students raise the idea of having
separate housing, it might be the result of the sort of shit they've had
to put up with. Unsurprisingly, the only other news coverage about this
"segregation" baloney comes from the biggest purveyor of white supremacy
in the USA:

Acknowledges ‘Institutional Racism’

Shahem Mclaurin, a black graduate student at New York U.’s Silver School
of Social Work, said he had already spoken with an administrator about
the racism he’d faced, with no action taken.
While traveling abroad this week, a black graduate student at New York
University says he was told by a classmate that a class discussion was
easier to facilitate without a “black presence” in the room. Now
administrators at NYU’s Silver School of Social Work have acknowledged
that it has a problem with “ongoing institutional racism,” especially in
the classroom.
