1. Addressed by the name of other Black men other than our own 2. When wearing a suit being asked if one was headed to court that day 3. Whispers that we were recent prisoners at the local jail. 4. Whispers that we were there because some putative white benefactor forced us on the college 5. Claims that our IQs were inferior to those of white students. And I can continue. Nothing out of the ordinary. As my father would say, "Boy what you expect? You're in America." And so we eventually got our own on campus house. That said there was very little segregation on campus.
