The DSA over most of the country has won the numbers it has because of its
open embrace of being "Socialists" and not its flabby-dub Democratic
hokey-pokey. I don't think that would draw anyone to join it.

This defines the DSA as a large cluster of younger people interested in
socialism and some aged boomers who entered the trade union bureaucracy or
the social justice lobbying biz. We can expect these latter to decline
over time, even as the crisis in society gets worse. It seems logical to
expect that a few strong and rewarding independent races by DSA members
would make a difference.
