One has to read this article more than once to realize it is not a fucking
satirical caricature but a "heartfelt" defense of the indefensible --

The conquest of South Africa by both the Afrikaners and the British was an
invasion with massacre after massacre following one upon the other --- if
the Zulu slaughtered by the Boers at the Battle of Blood River and those
defeated by the British decades later had won, there would not have been an
Apartheid State --- just as if Tecumseh had beaten William Henry Harrison,
there might have been a very different "America" created in the 19th
century ---

settler imperialism was a crime against humanity and this ridiculous
posturing by the journalist reveals how sensitive the intellectual
defenders of those conquests are ---- The painting in question is not being
defaced, not being torn down --- it is being CONTEXTUALIZED so that people
who see it can understand the true history it is depicting --

UGH!
