It is important to note that the largest single essay in Chomsky's AMERICAN
POWER AND THE NEW MANDARINS was entitled "ON OBJECTIVITY IN LIBERAL
SCHOLARSHIP" which was a detailed investigation of the anarchist revolution
in Barcelona which was suppressed by the "Republican Government" (basically
the communists) --- that was my first clue as a graduate student that the
"picture" of the Spanish Civil War among the CP oriented left in the US had
"left out" a lot (!!!)
{Chomsky's point was that virtually ALL historical writings about the
Spanish Civil War had ignored the real story of the Barcelona anarchists
....]
I wonder what kind of relationship the anarchists and Trotsyists had
because, of course, they had strong political and programmatic differences
--- going all the way back to Marx vs. Bakunin ...
