Trump isn't a fascist, he's a kind of authoritarian anarchist if that makes any sense--that is, a kind of state gangster who uses the authority and violence of the state to cover up his dismantling of basic governance in the interests of his criminal schemes. Will his rotten "legacy" be taken up by people like Flynn, who is considerably loser to actual fascism than Trump? Possibly. Maybe the likes of Tom Cotton or Fucker Snarlson or Gavin Whatsit will take up Trump's fallen tiki torch and march forward with it to a militarized, highly organized national dictatorship--something Trump does not appear finally to want, despite all the big talk, and something his supporters might soon find onerous.
The question is what will best serve the interests of big capital in the coming (or continuing) crisis--or what desperate means will capital resort to when it finds its best interests slipping away? One thing we should have learned from Trump is that capital's desperation moves will not necessarily be competent. The problem is looking for a literal repetition of Mussolini or Hitler--or even the more Bonapartist Pinochet, Franco, or Salazar. That could mean that if we don't see squads of uniformed storm troops burning books or smashing synagogues we may feel that "it" hasn't started yet, that there is "still time."
