Mussolini's "corporatism" had nothing intrinsically to do with what in the
United States are called "corporations"  (business organizations that sell
stock and are governed in the interests of shareholders). The concept was a
typically half-assed fascist peudo-concept of the totalitarian state as a body
with different organs and everybody having her place in regimented
organizations reflecting that. According to corporatist "theory," workers and
employers in the all-embracing state would be organized into industrial and
professional organizations serving as organs of political representation and
controlling to a large extent the persons and activities within their
jurisdiction.
