Comrade Richard is absolutely right ----there is no place for the
"Republican Renaissance" people in Trump's Republican Party ---

It’s the “moderates” who have no future. No immediate future. Just exactly

ME: The only hope these Republicans have is to be willing to play the
role of SPOILER so that Republicans who are in the Trump orbit will
consistently lose. My historical analogy (and it might be a stretch) is
to the Whig Party in the 1840s --- The last Whig President elected was
Zachary Taylor --- who when he died gave us the President most Americans
like to treat as the butt of jokes, Millard Fillmore --- In that 1848
election, the precursor of the Republican Party, the Free Soil Party, ran a
Presidential candidate (former President Van Buren) --- after that
election, the Whigs began to fall apart and by 1856 had ceased to exist ---
with the new Repubican Party emerging as party number two. The Whigs
became hopeessly split over the slavery issue and I would argue that the
formation of the Free Soil Party (even though it never had a chance) forced
some Whigs to take stands against slavery expansion thereby splitting the
party irrevocably ... The process by which the Whigs were destroyed took
about 16 years --- from the election of Harrison (the first Whig President)
in 1840 to the disappearance in1856. These days, time rushes by MUCH
QUICKER -- who would have thought that the Republican Party could be so
transformed in just 5 years ---

YES, the "moderates" have no voting base --- but they probably could play
that spoiler role, leading to the disintegration of the Trump party --- The
alternative scenario would have the donor base sticking with the Trump
Party -- That would indicate that some section of the ruling class had
given up on the democratic forms that have served American capitalism very
well over the decades --- I am not prepared to say that the ruling class
sees such a crisis that they are prepared to abandon "democratic forms"
---- which leaves them with no mass base unless they totally embrace the
Democrats --- which because of the "progressive wing" might be considered
risky for them. CONCLUSION -- the donor base of the current Republican
party will attempt to create this Republican Renaissance Party ---

It will take time and money to find a voting base, that's for sure --- and
of course it may not work --- If that's the case, then the Trumpist
Republican party will remain the OPPOSITION party and not disintegrate!
