Not at all. But when we were fending off a troll attack in the first month of Marxmail, every single one used a proxy server. The odd thing is there's really no need to hide your IP address if you are using a conventional ISP like Verizon or Time-Warner since it can't be traced to a name and address. On the other hand, if you are using the Internet in a dictatorship, there's a real need for a proxy server since the state does have the means to trace an IP address to an individual. I mean, really, if you want to post links to something that Adolph Reed Jr. wrote, why do you have to conceal your identity? However, if your only interest in Marxmail is to get comrades hot under the collar over some controversial question, it is up to me to use my power as a moderator to steer things in a positive direction. I've been moderating the list since 1998 and know the ropes. Before 1998, there were interminable flame wars that drove smart people away. They had no use for crazy Maoists and Leon Trotsky impersonators. We don't need that, especially in a critical period like this when the class struggle may deepen sharply before long.
