Obviously a "war-effort" level of solidarity is necessary to combat the virus.
One wonders about the survey cited by RKOB in part because it seems to assume explicit party identification on the part of the protesters. Is this a valid assumption? How many Europeans with racist/anti-immigrant feelings of (eg) narcissitic injury (as in the USA) are protesting without explicit party affiliation? This is only one among many possible questions. Surveys are only as good as the selection of the survey sample and the methods used to analyze the results. Even in the best cases, surveys are often wrong and do not equal the unimpeachable dialectical certainty of scientific law (if there is such a thing). How is one to know? Much more evidence is needed and we need to acknowledge the large uncertainty factor in any survey. What is the evidence for the counter-assertion that the manifestations have right-wing roots? Even if anecdotal, such evidence has weight and should be considered. We can say with reasonable certainty that anti-lockdown in the US is almost exclusively the "property" of the far right. Should we consider the situation in Europe to be the opposite of the US situation in this regard? In any case it does seem indisputable that the pandemic is being used by the "one percent" to extract ever more fictitious capital from the mass of surplus value in the face of declining productivity and rate (and mass) of profit. We should IMO understand that this affects working people and the reserve army of the unemployed and the marginally employed by causing desperation, panic, and a reaching for explanations that include mendacious or delusional conspiracy theories. At least, for example in the US case, the subjection of the forced unemployed to homelessness and "food uncertainty" would be a valid reason for protest under any circumstances. What recourse do people have? Where is the party or organized "pre-party" movement that can help them? The "Leninist" groups--in view of the collapse of the USSR and the apostasy of capitalist China--have over and over proved their inability to cope. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
