[marxmail] On Jimmy Dore

I didn't expect a reference to Dore to generate so much discussion. 
However, it is worth mentioning that he is not considered toxic by many 
decent people on the left who have gone on his show from Chris Hedges to 
Ralph Nader. Much of what he does is unobjectionable but operating in 
the same problematic sphere as Joe Rogan. Like Rogan, Dore is a 
conspiracy theorist who is apparently trying to build a customer base in 
MAGA territory. This is important to me because conspiracy theory eats 
away at the left political culture in the USA like termites on a house 
foundation. Yesterday, I checked in on the FB page of a former 
Marxmailer who had been a president of an important union local in the 
USA. He was defending Dore from charges of being a dick. In fact, I 
clashed with him on FB when he kept posting links to Dore's show. That 
ultimately led to him unsubbing from Marxmail because he was tired of 
all the attacks on Assad. He is also a big fan of Grayzone, for what 
that's worth. At a Left Forum about a decade ago, I tried to pin down 
this old friend and comrade on Syria but it was impossible. He shrugged 
his shoulders and said that he just didn't have any time to learn about 
the class struggle in Syria since for him the question of "imperialism" 
overrode everything else. That's a kind of brain rot that runs through 
the left like a shit stained underwear. Sorry for the mixed metaphors.
