My response to this is: Crisis, what crisis? At least in this question Tengely-Evan's position is totally consistent with the position of the British SWP and its forerunners since at least Hungary in 1956. There may be many reasons for criticising the British SWP but inconsistency on Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union isn't one of them. And I fail to see why any socialist should support Lukashenko or Putin - even by traditional orthodox Trotskyist criteria there is no way either Belarus or Russia can be described today as workers' states, no matter how deformed, degenerated or vestigial!
